Gymnosperm Leaf

This word is Greek for “naked seed”. Unlike angiosperm, a gymnosperm bears its seeds. The photo above is a cycad, a type of gymnosperm. Although cycads look a lot like palms, they truly are gymnosperms. The cone shaped base with spikes is the main feature that sets it apart. Conifers like cypress and redwood have this type of leaf.
