Enzyme

Enzymes are catalysts (something that increases the speed of a reaction) because they decrease the amount of activation energy (the minimum amount of energy for a reaction to occur). The only reason that humans are not starving is because of enzymes. Enzymes are not only in our stomach, though, they can be found in common foods. The picture above includes milk and almonds. Milk contains lactase, an enzyme that breaks down lactase to glucose. Almonds are raw food, and raw food contains a lot of enzymes. Specifically, if almonds are put in water, the enzymes get "activated".
